Non-linearity of inverse scattering problems can induce solution algorithms towards false solutions actually different or even very different from the ground truth. Different quantitative nonlinear strategies have been introduced in the last twenty years by LEMMA’s researchers. In the following, particular attention is devoted to the recent framework of the ‘Virtual Experiments’ and to new model-based inversion techniques, which rely on convenient rewritings of the Lippman Schwinger basic equation. Finally, phaseless inversion techniques as well as other interesting nonlinear methods are reviewed.
